A little about me… I am in my 40s and have just gone through what I call the baby boom phase of life as my friends and I all had babies around the same time in our lives. Like the wedding frenzy we all experienced, gift giving quickly became overwhelming – I simply did not have the time to think about what I really wanted to give each of my friends, so I just opted for items that were still available on their registries. This was tough for me, because I have always been a very thoughtful gift-giver…taking the time to really think about the perfect gift that I wanted to give for the specific individual or occasion. It’s something I took seriously growing up and have always received high praise for.
I think gift giving is about being personal, thinking more about what they want vs. just what they might need, because I tend to categorize gifts as things that people won’t buy for themselves. That is why I tend to go off-registry when it comes to shower gifts. I find so much satisfaction in surprising people with something they really want, and there’s no better feeling than seeing the joy, surprise and appreciation on their face when they open what you gave them.
So why start a baby gifts review blog? I want to pass on gift recommendations that have worked for me in the past, and were very well received! I’m still in the baby boom phase of life (I have one 4-year-old daughter, two nephews, and five nieces); and despite being super busy with the littles and work, I’m committed to my approach for gift giving, which includes being mindful of a registry list while also gifting something special.
