Shopping for the perfect baby shower gift can be tricky and overwhelming, especially if you want to look beyond the list of needed items on a Registry. Why this gets my highest recommendation:
- Handcrafted made of all-natural wood that is non-toxic
- Montessori inspired
- Minimalist design offers a clean and safe look
- Crochet toys are also handcrafted using 100% cotton yarn and stuffed with hypoallergenic filling
- The set-up is super easy and fast, with easy to follow instructions. I think it took me 5 minutes to do build.
- Exceeds safety standards for US Toys and is CPSIA compliant
- Perfect for 0-6 months

My 2nd Recommendation
Musical Elephant & Muslin Swaddle $98.00
Why this gets my highest recommendation:
- The packaging from this brand is really nice – maybe a little over the top for a shower gift (I was really torn about wrapping it in the wooden crate it came in vs. doing a fun gift bag)
- The musical elephant is really sweet – super soft, cuddly and soothing music
Couple of things To Consider:
- I was really disappointed with the fabric of the muslin swaddle. Knowing it is organic cotton, I expected it to feel soft and gentle, especially for a baby. Unfortunately, the material feels quite rough and scratchy to the touch. It doesn’t have the soft, cozy feel you’d want for something meant to be against a baby’s delicate skin.
- The size of the muslin swaddle (at 47″ square) seems excessive. It feels like too much material.
- I purchased from the Olive & Cocoa website and found the product description for this item very limiting (especially compared to both jabaloo products). I ended up doing my own research, which was fine, but a little frustrating.
My 3rd Recommendation (maybe tied for 2nd?)

Why this gets my highest recommendation:
- This too is handcrafted, made of all-natural (beech) wood and hypoallergenic fibers
- It is VERY visually appealing (love the simple, clean design with neutral colors)
- Best for 0-12 month year old’s as it promotes visual development, stimulates coordination and calms baby for a smoother transition to sleep (this brand is rooted in Montessori principles of play, learning and development).
- It can be used above a crib or above a playmat or bouncy seat.
- The hanging length of all the toys can be easily adjusted as baby grows (and for safety).
- There are 5 options to choose from; I selected the “Dream” style
Couple of things To Consider:
- The preferred way to hang a mobile is by suspending it from the ceiling as this keeps it out of baby’s reach and ensures long term safety. However, some prefer to affix it to the crib which requires an attachment (not included with your purchase).
- The jabaloo mobiles do not come with music or a motor for rotation, which is intentional as this brand favors natural movement and the absence of overstimulating sounds. This also aligns with Montessori principles.

Why this gets my highest recommendation:
- Super thoughtful gift giving strategy – most shower gifts are focused on Baby, so Mom will definitely appreciate this
- Comes with a nice robe, dry brush and bath bomb for Mom (robe comes in 3 colors and is nursing friendly) + a diaper caddy, swaddle blanket, bear “Lovey” and teether for Baby
- The basket that it comes in is actually the diaper caddy – and you can personalize with a handwritten gift message
Couple of things To Consider:
- At $205, it’s a little more pricey than the other items
- The robe runs big – to avoid the mistake I made in giving to my sister-in-law, I recommend sizing down. She ended up not being able to use it because it was just too big.
- I would have preferred to have a nice lotion or body spray included for Mom instead of the dry brush.
- I would have also liked it if they included 2 or 3 bath bombs as the 1 is small
My 5th Recommendation
Baby Bixbee booties, hat and mitten set $100.00
Why this gets my highest recommendation:
- Knowing it’s from UGG means it’s premium, made for warmth and comfort, and likely not something a mom would buy on her own
- All 3 of the items are made of soft faux shearling material and are machine washable
- Comes in 3 size options (0-6, 6-12, 12-18 months)
Couple of things To Consider:
- It’s a seasonal item so you will need to be mindful of the size you buy relative to the baby’s birth date – to avoid missing their cold weather season. This can be tricky as you don’t want to give a gift that does not align their age to time of year.
- It’s likely a one season and done purchase. They won’t get extended use after one cold weather season.
